Welcome to St. Lucia

Our goal is to create a Tanzania where the spread of HIV/AIDS is prevented and that those individuals who already suffer from the disease will be fully accepted and supported in their communities. St. Lucia inpatient currently has the ability to care for 8 adult patients and 16 orphans, ranging in ages from 1 to 15 years old. Services delivered to inpatients include: nutritional food, medicine, referrals to ART, Tuberculosis treatment, prevention of opportunistic infections for HIV/AIDS, counseling, education for the children, clothing, school uniforms, and shelter.      St. Lucia currently has approximately sixty outpatient families which the staff and trained HBC providers visit weekly on a rotation schedule. Services delivered for outpatients include: food, medicine, counseling, education for families and individuals regarding the transmission of HIV/AIDS, and how to care for HIV/AIDS sufferers in their homes (so that they can minimize cross infections) including proper handling of food, use of toilets and referrals to PMTCT, ART and/or STDS clinics for those affected. Wherever possible, outpatients and discharged inpatients receive referrals to other relevant community services available.
