I humbly take this opportunity to thank all of you for your past generosity and support.
Special thanks and gratitude go to our patients and families who trusted us and gave us the opportunity to help them and from whom we learned so much. Sincere appreciation goes to our many volunteers and visitors who gave so generously of their time and resources to help our mission. Thanks to our staff and management team who successfully fulfilled our objectives. And thanks to our donors who made many of our dreams become a reality.
We extend our sincere appreciation to other stakeholders and our partners in the community: the most vulnerable children committees who participated so well in the identification and verification of children who are most vulnerable; to local leaders; to duty bearers at the Arusha Municipal Council; and to the NGO's working with children in the Arusha municipality - to all of you, I thank you for your collaboration in delivering care and support to children and to their families.
It is a pleasure for me to work with dedicated professional staff, committed trustees and a diverse group of community stakeholders, including employers and funders, so that together we can provide effective, innovative programs and services to our community's most vulnerable children.
We had a challenging and exciting 2009/2010 delivering a full range of care to children in adverse circumstances due to poverty and to illness. Our major focal areas were:
impact mitigation of HIV/AIDS to most vulnerable children in Arusha Urban
offer palliative care for children in the orphanage and those in the community and enhance sustainability of the orphanage through innovative programs and farming activities
support Children's Rights Advocacy through giving rights to the silent majority -
children
The work that we do at St Lucia Orphanage is one facet of our core work to assist vulnerable children. Our active participation in the massive undertakings of the Global Fund and Save the Children initiatives are all intertwined efforts intended to mitigate the impact of illness and poverty.
